We have found TSM to be very sensitive to having the proper driver levels with the proper OS kernel levels. Pay close attention to the following:
-
Red Hat kernel version
-
TSM Version level
-
TSM mt driver level
-
The Fibre Channel adapter brand (Emulex)
-
The Fibre Channel adapter driver and firmware levels
EDT itself acts more like an application because it is not normally in the data path. The only exception is when it is doing things like auto-labeling or other device related utilities. However TSM is much more sensitive so if IBM is claiming support in a different configuration for TSM, EDT will most likely work but this is the environment that EDT was successfully tested in.
